Welcome to run in Helsinki and in Finland! Helsinki City Marathon is organized by a non-profit Finnish Athletics Federation and its 3 sports clubs and the profits benefit children and youth sport in whole Finland.

Helsinki City Marathon was promoted at the AIMS International Race Stand in the London Marathon Expo the past weekend. Weekend was full of great discussions and many more decisions to visit Helsinki.

London Marathon had the record of 40 000 runners this year. Many more than that number try to get their spot on the starting line either through bib Lottery or by joining different charities. One way to get in is to join the travel agencies that have limited number of places to the race. It is very difficult - there were only a bit over 20 Finns in the race this year.

All runners who have registerd for the Finnish Athletic's running events can join trainings and runs organized by FA and Juoksuliike for free. There are about three trainings per month during the spring 2017 which aim to motivate and support the training towards each runners' personal goals. So far the dates published reach until Helsinki City Run half marathon in May but training will continue also during the summer months.

As the year 2016 is coming to an end, it’s a great time to make a new year’s resolution for 2017.
Finland is now a hot destination on the global radar for tourism! Lonely Planet has ranked Finland third in its Best in Travel 2017 Guidebook in the category Top Countries – Ten destinations you cannot afford to miss. Lonely Planet sums it up perfectly: ‘There’s never been a better time to discover Finland’s proudly unique culture and landscapes’.
